Short and Sweet Review
Five students go into detention and only four of them come out alive. After Simon’s death, the four students who were in detention with him: Bronwyn, Nate, Addy, and Cooper become suspects. Simon was the creator of a gossip app and he was going to post about each of the four students before he died but he never got to it, now the four look like they have something to hide and a motive. Bronwyn is the brains she gets good grades and is on track to be valedictorian, Nate is actually on parole for selling drugs, Addy is the beauty queen, and Cooper is the star athlete. Each of them sounds like they’d have nothing to hide but Simon somehow knew secrets about them. I really enjoyed this book, I love mysteries. Every character knows each other from around school but the investigation brings them closer and eventually they start to work together to clear their names. I liked how they came together even though people started to call them the murder club, it was great how they put the clues together to figure out what actually happened to Simon that day in detention. There was also a little romance between Bronwyn and Nate which was really sweet because it was an unexpected romance but they were so good together and Bronwyn really cared about Nate and vice versa. It was great to see the evidence stack up against each of the character and see how they counteracted it, it was also interesting to see into their daily lives and how everyone around them was dealing with what was happening. The ending was great and I wasn’t expecting the culprit to be who it was and I’m excited to read the sequel to this book!
