After finally reuniting, Jay and Leroy have never been in more danger. Caught in the crosshairs of the affluent Bainbridge family, who they’ve learned is determined to reshape Savannah in their own image, the duo has only just survived a series of near-death experiences before reaching the safety of the Black Diamonds. But the BDs’ ability to protect the Black neighborhoods of their city is slipping….
Missing the key piece of evidence that could have broken the Bainbridges’ hold over Savannah, everyone is scrambling for options. But when one of their own is kidnapped, Jay and Leroy realize they can’t rely on anyone but themselves to save them. Recruiting old friends, former enemies, and their most risky ally, Jay’s once-upon-a-time crush, Will, they set out to do the impossible: find the evidence they lost in order to finally expose the Bainbridges’ corruption to the world, by any means necessary.
But even as their plans bring them closer to revealing the Bainbridges’ treacherous endgame, Jay and Leroy’s own secrets from each other threaten to pull their love apart, just as old feelings between Jay and Will begin to blossom again. And as the battle for a brighter future boils over into the streets, to save their homes—and everyone they love—Jay, Leroy, and Will must decide: When the cost of justice might be each of their happiness, will they be able to make the sacrifice togetha?
Short and Sweet Review
There’s a lot going on in Savannah but one thing is for sure Leroy and Jay are in danger and the Bainbridge family is ready to take over. Leroy and Jay know they can’t trust many people but they do know they have rely on those closest to them to try to find evidence to stop the Bainbridge family from getting what they want.
ew Togetha takes place shortly after the events of Pritty. With all of the danger Jay’s mom wants him to move to New York to stay away from the danger but that just brings Jay anxiety because he doesn’t want to lose everything he has. Leroy on the other hand is doing his black diamond initiation and still working on getting his GED. There’s a lot going on in this book but it keeps you interested and always on the edge of your seat. I believe this is a duology and I’ve been invested in Jay and Leroy’s lives and I always want to cheer for their accomplishments and shed a tear with them when things go down. We have three POVs this time, Jay, Leroy, and Will. Will is an old flame of Jay’s but he comes back when his mom gets kidnapped and he also gets close to someone to help get information. I did like all of the characters because we get to see what’s going on in their lives and also how they each play a role in helping stop the Bainbridge family from getting what they want. I did like the addition of Will and seeing how he meshed with the other characters but I didn’t like that there was some romance between him and Jay. I do want to give a shoutout to Jacob, Taj, and Princeton, they were the best support system for our characters and they weren’t flawless but they were exactly what the characters needed during this time.
Overall, I enjoyed this book a lot and I think these characters will have a special place in my heart. Jay and Leroy are the most interesting characters Jay is very sweet and caring and Leroy is the same but he only shows it with those he cares about and with his poetry. I like to envision these characters living happily ever after. There was a lot that these characters had to process but they did it well. I think Pritty and Togetha should be read back to back so you can get the full experience of everything that happened. Pick up this duology, it’s worth it!
