In a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron hand, Celaena, an assassin, is summoned to the castle. She comes not to kill the king, but to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she is released from prison to serve as the king’s champion. The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass—and it’s there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena’s fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.

Throne of Glass starts with our heroine Celaena Sardothien a former assassin turned prisoner. Celaena spends everyday in the Salt Mines of Endovier. At this point Celaena has given up on hoping for freedom, until The Crown Prince (Dorian) and The Captain of the Guard (Chaol) come to her with a proposition. If Celaena fights in a competition and wins she’ll become the Kings Champion for four years, and she’ll earn her freedom. It’s an offer Celaena can’t resist. When Celaena arrives at the Glass Castle she learns things won’t be as simple as she thought. Some dark evil is at work in the King’s castle and is killing off the competitors one by one. Celaena is a smart character she knows when things are right and she’s not afraid to take risks to figure things out. There was a bit of a love triangle between Celaena, Dorian, and Chaol. I definitely preferred Chaol over Dorian mainly because he was with Celaena most of the time and he did care for her but wasn’t able to show it because of his role as The Captain of the Guard. I also loved Celaena’s friendship with Nehemia, both girls needed a friend and someone to trust with all of the chaos going on in the castle.

Throne of Glass is an awesome book! Celaena is funny, smart, and kick-ass. The ending was great and I’m ready to see what the rest of the series has in store.

Before Matt, Ella had a plan. Get over a no-good ex-boyfriend. Graduate from high school without any more distractions. Move away from Orlando, Florida, where she’s lived her entire life. But Matt—the cute, shy, bespectacled bass player who just moved to town—was never part of that plan. And neither was attending a party that was crashed by the cops just minutes after they arrived. Or spending an entire night saying “yes” to every crazy, fun thing they could think of.Then Matt abruptly left town, and he broke not only Ella’s heart but those of their best friends, too. So when he shows up a year later with a plan of his own—to relive the night that brought them together—Ella isn’t sure whether Matt’s worth a second chance. Or if re-creating the past can help them create a different future. In alternating then and now chapters, debut author Lauren Gibaldi crafts a charming, romantic story of first loves, lifelong friendships, uncovered secrets, and, ultimately, finding out how to be brave.

I really liked this book! Lauren Gibaldi’s The Night We Said Yes was perfect for me because I was kind of in a slump.  It was just the right length and interesting enough to keep my attention. The Night We Said Yes goes between the past and the present and that usually bothers me but this time it didn’t. This book had such an interesting premise. Ella is at a party and Matt her ex-boyfriend comes out of nowhere and decides he wants to relive a night from their past, the night they said yes. This story was genius!  I mean who wouldn’t want to relive a night where they said yes to everything.  I also liked learning more about Ella and her friends and also her relationship with Matt through the flashbacks. I honestly would love to do this with my friends one night just saying yes to everything that’s reasonable and we can’t say no it just sounds like so much fun. This book was short, sweet, and I loved the characters. This is a great book to read especially in the summer. I would recommend this book to my friends, all of my friends! Everyone should just go buy this book hahaha.

When Decker found Delaney kissing his best friend Carson, he told himself that it meant nothing. But then Carson calls to Delaney from across the vast frozen lake. Jealous, Decker insists they walk over the fragile ice. Halfway, he leaves her there . . . Ten minutes without air, Delaney will be dead. Decker pulls her out of the icy waters after eleven. Delaney is alive, but now she is drawn to those who are dying . . . and to stranger, Troy - someone Decker should see as a threat.

After Delaney fell into Falcon Lake something changed. Delaney can now sense when someone is about to die. Most of Delaney’s friends start to distance themselves from her because it seems like people around her die. When Delaney was at the hospital she met Troy. At first Troy seemed like a great friend for Delaney because he has the same ability as her. I liked Delaney’s character she’s smart and curious. Troy’s character seemed nice at first but towards the end he has some scary secrets he hasn’t told anyone. I really like this book. The ending is great I got chills reading it, its unexpected. I would and I did buy the sequel to this book which is Vengeance and it’s in Delaney’s friend Decker’s point of view. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Mysteries, and Thrillers.

It was the weekend before Christmas and the whole world was on countdown.
Except for me.
Last Christmas, I met a boy.
Last Christmas, we made a pact.
Christmas would never be the same.
Life would never be the same...

***Please note that this is a short story, not a full length novel. It is intended to be a quick, fun and flirty read.***

THE GIFT by Karli Perrin is a short and sweet Christmas themed New Adult Romance. It’s a short story, only 38pgs (on my kindle), but still manages to deliver a good romance. THE GIFT tells a sort of meet-cute romance where we’re introduced to Imogene and Blake, two college students, and watch them fall for each other during the holidays. It’s fun to read the banter between the two, the light teasing and flirtation.

I did have a couple ‘huh?’ moments… The story starts out in the present, with just a few lines, and then takes us back to a year ago, where it truly takes places. I don’t feel that this was necessary, as in the end, we’re not brought back to the present. The second moment takes place towards the end and felt as if it came out of nowhere. It may have been added to affirm the feelings of the couple, but I don’t feel that it was required.

While this is a novella, I didn’t find it lacking nor did I need it to be longer.  I will say, that I would gladly read another story where I get to find out more about Imogene and Blake and see how they are doing, though. I will definitely be checking out other reads by Ms. Karli Perrin.

This is a novella that I would recommend if you are short on time, but in the mood for a light and romantic holiday read.

In a world of shadows, anything is possible. Except escaping your fate. Ever since she was a child, Ivy has been gripped by visions of strange realms just beyond her own. But when her sister goes missing, Ivy discovers the truth is far worse—her hallucinations are real, and her sister is trapped in a parallel realm. And the one person who believes her is the dangerously attractive guy who's bound by an ancient legacy to betray her. Adrian might have turned his back on those who raised him, but that doesn't mean he can change his fate…no matter how strong a pull he feels toward Ivy. Together they search for the powerful relic that can save her sister, but Adrian knows what Ivy doesn't: that every step brings Ivy closer to the truth about her own destiny, and a war that could doom the world. Sooner or later, it will be Ivy on one side and Adrian on the other. And nothing but ashes in between…. The first in a stunning new series, this is New York Times bestselling author Jeaniene Frost at her dazzling, inventive best.

Ivy didn’t have the easiest of childhoods. She grew up believing she was crazy. She had visions of parallel realms of existence. It didn’t take her long when she was a child to figure out she was the only one seeing these things. Her adoptive parents took her to Dr. after Dr. Her one true supporter was her sister Jasmine. When Ivy’s sister Jasmine goes missing Ivy decides to go looking for Jasmine. As Ivy is searching for her sister, she finds herself in trouble and fighting for her life. She than meets her handsome, rescuer Adrian. When she first meets Adrian he wouldn’t answer any of her questions but Ivy soon learns that Adrian and her are descendants and are the last in their line. There’s a lot of attraction between Adrian and Ivy but Adrian tries to fight his feelings because its in his destiny to betray her. This book was a fast read, it ended with a cliffhanger so I plan on reading the sequel when it comes out.
