MEGHAN CHASE HAS A SECRET DESTINY—ONE SHE COULD NEVER HAVE IMAGINED…

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school…or at home.

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change. But she could never have guessed the truth.

For Meghan is the daughter of a mythical faery king…and a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face…and find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

Short and Sweet Review

Meghan is one of those girls who just knows that her life isn’t the best but her sixteenth birthday is coming up and nothing is going to ruin that. When her younger brother Ethan starts seeing things Meghan just brushes it off, until Ethan is actually kidnapped and taken into the faery world. Meghan knows she has to rescue Ethan and that’s when she learns that her best friend is actually Puck from A Midsummer’s Night Dream, and her father is the King of the Seelie court.

The Nevernever isn’t what Meghan expected but she’s determined to get Ethan back. Meghan meets Ash the Prince of the Unseelie court. Let me just say this is my second time reading this book and I came back for the romance between Meghan and Ash. These two are like Romeo and Juliet, they’re not supposed to be together but they can’t fight the obvious connection they have. The romance is great and I can’t wait to see how it progresses in the next book.

Anyway Meghan spends a few days at court and then she leaves to find her brother with the help of Puck, a cool cat named Grim (he reminds me of the Cheshire Cat), and Ash (only because they made a bargain). The group learns that Ethan was actually taken by someone named the Iron King and he’s pretty hard to find mainly because he shouldn’t exist. We also learn that people are searching for Meghan because she’s powerful, she belongs to the Summer Court but can fight off the ill effects of Iron.

I enjoyed rereading this book and seeing most of what the Nevernever is like. The pacing is great and the book held my interest with all of the new information and twists and turns it took. I’m excited to read the next book especially now that Meghan has to embrace being fey.
