In the domed city of Evanescence, appearance is everything. A Natural Born among genetically altered Aristocrats, all Ella ever wanted was to be like everyone else. Augmented, sparkling, and perfect. Then...the crash. Devastated by her father's death and struggling with her new physical limitations, Ella is terrified to learn she is not just alone, but little more than a prisoner.

Her only escape is to lose herself in Nexis, the hugely popular virtual reality game her father created. In Nexis she meets Guster, a senior player who guides Ella through the strange and compelling new world she now inhabits. He offers Ella guidance, friendship...and something more. Something that allows her to forget about the "real" world and makes her feel whole again. But when their separate worlds collide, Ella will have to choose between love and survival. Because Nexis isn’t quite the game everyone thinks it is.

And it’s been waiting for Ella.

Nexis follows Ella. Her father just created a virtual reality world in the future that they live in. The virtual reality is called Nexis. In Nexis you can create a virtual character and be whoever you want and do whatever you want. The only catch is that you can only play for six hours and then you have to take a break. The game literally kicks you out after six hours and won’t let you log back on for another eighteen. (Just imagine if Twitter did that, I’d die!)

After creating the game Ella’s father, wins an award and the two of them end up being part of the Aristocracy. However, later that night Ella’s father is killed. Ella survives, though she lost her legs and finds herself alone in a room. All she has is her robot whom she’s known all her life. Therefore she decides to play Nexis for once. In Nexis Ella meets Gus and I just love the connection those two had. Nexis follows Ella’s adventures and discoveries while she’s in the game, and outside the game.

Ella was an amazing character. Despite her loss, she managed to stay strong and fight for herself. I definitely felt for her. I think that my favorite character was definitely Gus. He was just so caring and sweet towards Ella and he showed her what love really is. The two of them were absolutely perfect together.

I loved the idea of Nexis. I also really loved the world that Davroe has created.  Nexis is worth the read. I definitely can’t wait to see what happens in book two. I just hope the wait isn’t too long, because I need more of Gus and Ella and their next adventure!

Cleo’s precious mother is dead – and it isn’t an accident! The Pharaoh’s illegitimate daughter must flee the royal palace at Alexandria or be killed too. As her evil half-sisters finally usurp the throne, Cleo finds sanctuary within the sacred temple of Isis, where four years later she becomes initiated into the top-secret Sisters of the Living Knot. But now Isis’s power is failing, Egypt itself is in danger, and the teenage Cleo must prove her loyalty to her goddess by returning to the Alexandria she hates. Her task is to seek out the hidden map which is the key to returning Isis’s power – on pain of death. But will she be able to evade her horrible sisters and sneak into the secret archives of the Brotherhood of Embalmers? And will she rediscover dreamy Khai, the über-hot Librarian boy she met as she fled Alexandria years before? Cleo’s powerful destiny is about to unfold….

Gorgeous and evocative, Cleo imagines the life of the teenage Cleopatra before she became the icon we all think we know.

At the beginning, I didn’t like the book very much. I thought Cleo was a bit of a whiner. The evil sisters also begin rather one dimensional, ‘bad because they’re evil and want to rule’ and might as well have been the same person.

It got better towards the middle. The plot spices up. Cleo is under constant threat and those closest to her are far from safe. Her relationship with Charm, her slave, also made me warm up to her over time. Even the one dimensional villains developed a little and started to separate out. I felt that Cleo grew as a character. She stops asking ‘why’ and starts taking action. The scenes where she faces her sisters in political power struggles were among my favorite in the book, as we got to see Cleo take a few risks and stand up against evil. The main problem I had with this book was the setting (Egypt). It just didn’t feel like you were there. Or at least I couldn’t picture it. I wanted to breathe the desert air hahaha. Cleo was an okay book but I don’t think I’d read a sequel.

Ashley Hawthorne thinks of herself as the Cuckoo Girl. No matter where she is it feels like she doesn’t quite belong.

Everything changes when her eccentric aunt, Elspeth Grimm, leaves her the key to a safety deposit box in a bank that was destroyed during the Blitz. That box contains the first part of her true inheritance: an umbrella, a battered old notebook, a pair of aviator’s goggles and a locket. Each of these gifts is a unique part of who she really is.

Elspeth is a Grimm, a descendent of the brothers who purged this world of monsters by trapping them within the Concord. She is the Oracle. A keeper of all the knowledge we have amassed about the creatures of the Fae and other worlds. And someone intent on destroying the Concord has murdered her!

When Ashley looks through the goggles that night she sees curious creatures on the roof of the house across the street watching her. To the naked eye they look like crows but they are not. It is the first glimpse of the other place—the place where she will finally belong.
The journal is crammed full of things, but there’s no actual writing in it. Ash decides she’s going to use the book as a journal, and begins the first entry: My name is Ashley Hawthorne. The ink fades so she writes it again. My name is Ashley Hawthorne. Again the ink fades. She tries again and again until the ink scratches out an entirely different first line: That is not who you are!

Moonlands is about Ashley Hawthorne who lives in London but feels like she doesn’t quite belong. She feels this even more after she attends the reading of her eccentric aunt’s will in which she is named as a beneficiary.  She is being given the key to a safety deposit box. As she sets out to discover the contents of the box other people are watching her and some aren’t human!
Blackwater Blaze is an alpha wolf sent with four members of his pack from the Moorlands on a deadly mission to kill Ashley. His approach from the moongate is met by unexpected opposition, his pack members are all killed and he is given a warning and a message. He starts to suspect treachery is afoot with him a tool in its execution. Should he complete his mission or fight for what he knows is right?

Many of the characters were interesting and if you enjoy urban fantasy, werewolves and magic then you will definitely enjoy picking up this book. It was fast-paced, interesting and it did keep me turning the page to find out more. Overall I think this book was pretty good. Which means you guys should check it out.

In a Victorian society fascinated by spiritualists, something wicked sinks its claws in from the other side. Odessa is a psychic; her mother, the Great Madame Elena, is a fraud. After a séance goes terribly wrong and a woman ends up dead, an evil force slips into the land of the living.Though Odessa and her mother try to outpace the rumors spreading, they can't escape the danger that has taken residence within Odessa herself. When Odessa is shouldered with the responsibility of the Great Madame Elena’s business, she starts to lose control of the spirit world, and she can’t afford to make another mistake. Asked to open the door to the other side again, Odessa witnesses a brutal murder that hints at black magic and is faced with a choice: risk her life for freedom from her mother, or go on living a life of servitude. If she goes into a trance again, will she be able to maintain control?

Odessa is a psychic. Odessa’s mom, The Great Madame Elena, doesn’t truly have the gift to talk to spirits like Odessa does. She keeps Odessa around to “help” , so she can keep making money telling people their futures. One night at a séance, something goes horribly wrong. Odessa stops what was happening. As Odessa and her mom try to outrun all the rumors from that night, they finally find a nice town to stop in. After that night, Odessa wants to stick to only palm and tarot readings. Then an extremely wealthy family asks to have a séance. Odessa tries to protest, but her mother tells her that if she earns enough money, she will let her go. Reluctantly, she agrees, and hopes that maybe she can finally be free. Odessa arrives for the séance. Warren, Theresa, Benjamin… She really wants to help them. But there is something really wrong that she can’t see initially.

I liked Odessa she knows how to make the best of troubling and uncomfortable situations, she has very real concerns and desires, and she’s clever. I enjoyed seeing how she would handle different situations, and she made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion.

The rest of the characters were well-developed, especially for such a short book which made every single page of this story enjoyable to read. The story was intriguing, and it had that familiar but different feeling about it that I thought was enjoyable. It was a wonderful take on magic and death. I would recommend this book to anyone who is into magic and psychics. The book is also short kind of like a novella so it’s easy to just breeze through.

Ven wrestles with these contradicting truths every day. A clone of wealthy eighteen-year-old Raven Rogen, Ven knows everything about the girl she was created to serve: the clothes she wears, the boys she loves, the friends she loves to hate. Yet she’s never met the Authentic Raven face-to-face. Imitations like Ven only get to leave the lab when they’re needed—to replace a dead Authentic, donate an organ, or complete a specific mission. And Raven has never needed Ven . . . until now. When there is an attack on Raven’s life, Ven is thrust into the real world, posing as Raven to draw out the people who tried to harm her. But as Ven dives deeper into Raven’s world, she begins to question everything she was ever told. She exists for Raven, but is she prepared to sacrifice herself for a girl she’s never met?

Raven Rogen has everything. She is rich, popular and does what she wants, at least that’s what it seems like to Ven, Raven’s clone. Ven has to watch Raven’s life everyday to learn how to be her if needed. Clones are only created for one reason, and that’s to replace the Authentic when and if needed. None of the clones who where sent to replace their Authentic ever return so the clones know nothing about the outside apart from what they are allowed to see from the glimpses of their Authentic’s videos.

Ven is called to duty and is equal parts happy and anxious. Ven knows her job is to be Raven, down to the littlest detail, but as Ven lives Raven’s life she sees its not as glamorous as she thought. For a start she wasn’t told that Raven’s life was in danger and that Ven is now the bait! She must figure out what is going on before its too late.

Ven was a brilliant heroine. She knows her place in life is to be Raven yet she still has her own personality. The clones are lead to believe that they are nothing but emotionless beings put on the earth to serve their Authentic. Ven doesn’t believe this though, how can she be like that when she has every kind of emotion flowing through her. When she is sent to be Raven, she hates how Raven treats everyone, she hates how Raven uses people and while she has to behave like Raven, or else she will be killed, she doesn’t enjoy it.

Titus, Raven’s father, is the one who made the clone for Raven. He treats Ven like she is nothing. He is more than willing to make Ven the bait just so he can capture the people after Raven and question them. He doesn’t care what happens to Ven nor any other clone. He is heartless and cruel. Ven hates him and will do anything to be free of him.

Then we have Linc. I loved this serious, mysterious character. He is Raven’s, and now Ven’s, bodyguard and is always there for her. He hates that Titus is putting Raven out there, just to catch and “question” the people after her. To Linc it seems that Titus doesn’t care about his own daughter, but little does Linc know that Raven isn’t herself. He knows something is different with her but he doesn’t know what. Since the first time she is attacked Raven seems nicer and Linc thinks maybe it made her realize life is precious. He finds himself drawn to the new Raven but what will he do if he finds she isn’t who he thinks??

This is my first clone book and I have to say, I loved the plot. I loved how the Imitations are made specifically for their Authentic and can be used for parts or can be used if the Authentic dies. The mainstream people have no idea that the Imitations are there, they are only used by the very rich an powerful, so anyone could be a clone and you’d never know. It was a fascinating concept.

Overall I loved Imitation. It has everything a great book should have, suspense, mystery, great characters and plenty of action. From the very first page we are dragged into a world of corruption, a world where the elite thrive and the rest are forgotten about. The clones are made to follow orders or else face the kill switch. I loved everything about this book and need book 2 now!

In the YA thriller The Third Twin, identical twins Lexi and Ava invent a fictional triplet they call Alicia. Unlike Lexi's relentless pursuit of academic perfection and her sister's pursuit of a good time, 'Alicia' is beautiful, smart, confident and the girl everyone wants to date. The twin's ruse is perfect until one night when the boy 'Alicia' is dating is found brutally murdered—and all evidence points to her. As Lexi frantically tries to unravel the mystery surrounding his death, the bodies of 'Alicia's' boyfriends start to multiply and it becomes a race to outwit the police as well as find the identity of the true killer before it's too late. After witnessing the aftermath of yet another murder, Lexi can no longer deny that all signs point to her sister's guilt. Enlisting the help of her old friend Zane, Lexi formulates a plan to catch the killer and clear her name, but planning gives way to disbelief as she discovers that in so many cases, people aren't always who they seem.

The Third Twin is a murder mystery and a high-intensity thriller about identical twin sisters, Alexa and Ava, who play with fire by pretending to have a third sister, Alicia.  Alicia is fun, beautiful, fashionable and extremely popular with boys. She goes on dates, gets invited to all the hot parties and is simply the coolest sister out of the three. The only problem is, Alicia doesn’t really exist. She’s made up. It’s always Ava and Alexa pretending to be Alicia, taking turns going on dates and fooling around with boys. When Alicia’s boyfriends start dropping dead and the cops come knocking on the door, looking for the third sister who doesn’t exist, the girls find themselves in a whole lot of trouble. Someone’s out to get them, will they find out who before it’s too late?-=

This is a plot-driven story. The characters are interesting enough to keep the readers engaged and captivated, but they’re not particularly memorable. I did, however, want to find out what in the world was going on. The mystery aspect of the story was supreme and executed nicely. I couldn’t tell who the evil culprit was. I had tons of theories and I suspected everyone. Well, almost everyone, because I was honestly surprised to find out who was behind the murders. The ending was very twisty and gasp-worthy. I was so sure I had it all figured out, but was taken aback by the final reveal. Omololu did a great job keeping the suspense going and she really managed to surprise me at the end. This book was extremely entertaining: fun, fast-paced and easy to read. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries/thrillers.

Quinn is looking forward to her senior year at Poe University. She has big plans to hang out with her best friend, flirt with a certain boy genius, party at her favorite dive bar and figure out what she's going to do after graduation with her not-so-useful art major. But that's before she meets Luke, a hot townie who's moved back home to help take care of his dying sister. And it's before a weird epidemic sweeps across campus, mysteriously turning people's eyes purple.
Is it an odd side effect from a new party drug?
Is it a rogue virus developed in a campus lab?
Is it the mark of the devil?
Soon the town starts blaming the university and the student religious group becomes frighteningly aggressive in their on-campus accusations. Quinn and Luke are caught in the middle—until a tragic accident forces Luke to reveal the one part of himself he's kept carefully hidden. That he's so much more than the happy-go-lucky boy next door Quinn had believed him to be isn't a surprise…but this truth might be too dangerous for her to handle.

Something strange is happening in and around Poe College, the town and students are quarantined, no one in and no one out. Why? Because someone or something is infecting people with violet eyes! Purple Eye Disease is spreading and doctors think it is carried through bodily fluids. There are other side effects, too, that are not exactly bad, just unexplainable.

Caught in the middle of this is college student, Quinn, a carefree college senior, looking to have fun with her friends. When events in town get nasty, as the fear of the purple eye disease grows, the college is blamed and anyone associated with or having purple eyes becomes a target for violence and even death. Through it all, Quinn becomes involved, she always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, trying to help, but causing more trouble and coming under the scrutiny of the law. Quinn also meets a love interest, Luke. But when Quinn finds out he has secrets of his own she wonders if she can still trust him.

Quinn’s character took some time for me to warm up to, but when the story started getting deeper, so did Quinn’s character. Although there was danger from the unknown and the cult, Quinn was determined to find out the cause of the illness. Half the campus is in quarantine and not allowed to leave but Quinn is constantly breaking the rules and finding more and more clues. She meets Luke right before the epidemic and is constantly ignoring his wishes. She is determined to help her friends and others.

Luke is a loveable character. He is handsome, sweet and caring. Luke is keeping a secret, which when it came out I am not sure why, but it does add to Quinn’s confusion. Neither Luke nor Quinn were looking for a relationship but the epidemic brings them together. Rashid another possible love interest is a scientist. I didn’t really see the connection. Luke was true to his character throughout the story. His interest and concern for Quinn’s safety and those who took ill never wavered.

When we finally dive into the mystery illness, the author gives readers danger and suspense. There are twist and turns that I did not see coming. I would have liked to had more of Quinn and Luke too, but the story is fast-paced. Overall I think Heartsick was a good book.

It's been 21 days since the hundred landed on Earth. They're the only humans to set foot on the planet in centuries...or so they thought. Facing an unknown enemy, Wells attempts to keep the group together. Clarke strikes out for Mount Weather, in search of other colonists, while Bellamy is determined to rescue his sister, no matter the cost. And back on the ship, Glass faces an unthinkable choice between the love of her life and life itself. In this pulse-pounding sequel to The 100, secrets are revealed, beliefs are challenged, and relationships are tested. And the hundred will struggle to survive the only way they can -- together.

The book picks up where The 100 left off, the group of people sent down to Earth are now aware of the fact they are not alone. They have always believed that no one survived the Cataclysm, that Earth was not inhabitable because of radiation. They are now aware that there are people living on Earth, Earthborns who managed to survive in a large underground bunker and have now come to the surface.

This one keeps up the fast-moving pace that we had in book one. It has all the twists and turns, the four different points of view and the flashbacks into their past that reveal more about them and the story. It also has the romance and the drama that comes along with it. There is just so much romance and melodrama surrounding it all. We’ve got characters declaring their love for one another, even though they have quite literally only known each other for three weeks.

We still follow four characters in this: Clarke, Bellamy, Wells and Glass. Glass was my favorite out of the four in The 100 and she’s still my favorite in this book. I liked the book and I’d recommend it. I still haven’t watched the show yet but I think I’ll wait until I read the third book! (:

Ever since a devastating nuclear war, humanity has lived on spaceships far above Earth's radioactive surface. Now, one hundred juvenile delinquents -- considered expendable by society -- are being sent on a dangerous mission: to recolonize the planet. It could be their second chance at life...or it could be a suicide mission. CLARKE was arrested for treason, though she's haunted by the memory of what she really did. WELLS, the chancellor's son, came to Earth for the girl he loves -- but will she ever forgive him? Reckless BELLAMY fought his way onto the transport pod to protect his sister, the other half of the only pair of siblings in the universe. And GLASS managed to escape back onto the ship, only to find that life there is just as dangerous as she feared it would be on Earth. Confronted with a savage land and haunted by secrets from their pasts, the hundred must fight to survive. They were never meant to be heroes, but they may be mankind's last hope.

100 teenagers are to be sent to earth after humans evacuated it 300 years prior because of a nuclear war. After a brief introduction, we embark on this unnerving trip to a now foreign planet. While I liked the quick drop into the big picture, I felt like I missed the chance to get to know the characters beforehand. We do get flashbacks throughout the book but there’s only a minor light shed on the character’s lives when they were on the ship.

The 100 left me with endless questions from the events that led to life on this ship, to how life has been sustained for three centuries, to how they have evolved and adapted. When they get to earth, aside from it being regrettably unexciting for a while, I was unconvinced at how they could adapt so easily – they don’t seem to be affected by the sun or foreign bacteria like the kind in water from a river.

The only problem I had with this book was keeping up with the 4 POVs. In the end I have to admit that it kept my interest from start to finish. The book’s short chapters makes it a quick read, it also has some frightening turn of events on top of an ending that stirs up the pot.

Ever since his father’s disappearance, teenaged Darius has made a living for himself as a small-time con artist, cheating tourists out of their money on the hot streets of Memphis. When a mysterious woman starts following him, he thinks the police are finally on to him—but the truth is far stranger than that. Darius has been recruited by Project Oberon, a top-secret government organization dedicated to preventing disasters—before they occur. Oberon has created a portal that allows people to go back in time, to exactly twenty-four hours earlier.  Then disaster strikes New York City, and Darius and his team of special ops teenagers are in the Portal, heading back with just one day to prevent the unthinkable. But it soon becomes clear that this villain is unlike any they’ve ever faced before—and knows far too much about Project Oberon. Can Darius and the team save the world before their twenty-four hours are up, or will they be lost in time forever?

As a con-artist, Darius Simms was a keen observer and knew when a person was bluffing him but when Agent Grosz told him that he and his girlfriend will die that evening, he didn’t know what to think. Soon he finds himself agreeing to be a replacement field agent to a team of special teenagers whose goal was to prevent catastrophic event from happening. I was excited to read this book at first. Based on the synopsis I thought that it would be a thrilling and exciting adventure. I was so completely disappointed, I don’t even know where to begin. Nothing really happened until almost 1/3 of the way through the book. Then it’s one thing happening after another. The pace just wasn’t working for me. Also the interactions that the characters were having just weren’t believable. I really wanted to like this book but it just fell short of my expectations.
