Ariana is ready to get away. From the chill of a New York winter. From the anxiety around her volleyball injury and what that means for her future.

Thanks to her new friend Oakley, she can do just that. Oakley has offered Ariana an all-expenses-paid trip to her parents’ wellness retreat on an island off Barbados.

The Dream resort seems like the per-fect escape. At least, it did before lifestyle guru Juniper-Moon started introducing sus-pect activities like psychedelic mushroom tea ceremonies and bee venom facials.

And as disturbing accidents start happen-ing around the island and tension between the guests and staff builds, Aria realizes she and her friends might not be in paradise after all. Now it’s no longer a question of when but if they can make it home alive.

Short and Sweet Review

Ariana is ready to get away from the winter season in New York and forget all about her volleyball injury, and she’s going to get the getaway she wished for. When her new friend Oakley invites her to the Barbados all expenses paid to a wellness retreat her family will be opening, Ariana jumps at the chance and invites her cousin Candy and friend Maya. When The girls arrive to the island they’re met by other guests and Juniper-Moon the lifestyle guru. During the trip Juniper suggest activities that don’t seem safe but everyone goes through with it, when guests begin to get hurt and even die Ariana knows something is really wrong and needs to find a way to get herself and her friends off this island.

Who’s All Going (to Die)? Was a fun book to get into. Ariana and her friends are in Barbados attending a wellness retreat which just sounds luxurious and the book starts off slow building the world and letting us know who the characters are. Our main character is Ariana and she recently suffered an injury that leaves her in pain but she’s pretty smart and she catches on to the weird vibes quickly, but she’s also rash with her decision making. We have Oakley who invited everyone to the soft opening of the wellness retreat, she’s a rich girl and when the accidents start to take place she’s a bit oblivious. Jadon is a love interest for Ariana and he’s a bit mysterious and has his own agenda out there. Juniper-Moon is the wellness guru and right off the bat we can tell there is something off with her, you really just side eye everything she says. I loved the world building and the atmosphere, at first we see the characters partake in different activities that you would see take place in a spa but things start to get more dangerous and you can definitely tell that something is up. Juniper-Moon is usually behind all of the suggestions for the group activities but when something goes wrong she just has a nonchalant attitude and moves on quickly. Juniper-Moon and Oakley act like everything is alright and keep going through the motions and at some point Ariana feels like the vibes are very much leaning towards cult territory. The ending was great and it felt like a race against time to get out of there safely and without getting hurt themselves.

Overall, this was such a good book. I love mysteries and sometimes dabbling into cults because why are you falling for this? The setting of wellness retreat gone wrong was executed well and the characters were all so different and you just wanted to figure each one of them out and also what was going on at this retreat. Check this book out!

Short and Sweet Review Didn’t Do It had a premise that immediately grabbed my attention. The idea of a girl living under the shadow of her father’s crimes and then becoming trapped in a deadly cabin getaway sounded like the perfect setup for a tense YA thriller. I also liked how the story explored the way […]

TO DROWN A WITCH By Lindsey Olsson

Short and Sweet Review To Drown a Witch had a really intriguing premise that immediately caught my attention. The mystery surrounding the Witch’s identity, combined […]

BEWARE THE ABBOTT BOYS By Chelsea Ichaso

Short and Sweet Review Beware the Abbott Boys had all the ingredients for a mystery I should have loved: a suspicious family, a small town full of secrets, a dead girl, and a second murder that throws everyone into chaos. The premise hooked me immediately, and the opening chapters did a great job creating an […]
