Bad Things Always Come In Threes…

As a thief, I'm good at three things: hiding in the shadows, getting in and out unseen, and uncovering secrets. I put these skills to work for the Sinclair Family, one of the magical mobs that run the tourist town of Cloudburst Falls.

Everyone knows Victor Draconi wants to take over all the other Families--and kill every last Sinclair. What they don't know is that I'm on to him, and no way will I let the man who murdered my mom get away with hurting all the other people I care about. Especially when I've got places to break into, stuff to steal, and Devon Sinclair fighting right by my side…

Short and Sweet

Its time for the final battle! Lila and the Sinclair’s know that Victor Draconi is going to strike, but when? Everyone is trying to figure out how to stop Victor especially because they know what he’s planned. Everyone has to band together even the other families to stop Victor and his plan to take over Cloudburst Falls.

What I liked

~The characters! I love them all so much especially all of their different personality’s.

~ There was non-stop action.

~There was always something happening, which kept me on the edge of my seat!

~The scenes were so detailed that I can picture them in my head.

~The Lochness! So misunderstood by people but just wants a friend! I’m glad Lila realized how sweet the lochness actually is.

~The romances! I love all of the romances so much, I shipped them so hard! Devon and Lila, and Deah and Felix!

What I didn’t like

~That it was the last book.

Overall

I loved this trilogy so much! I love all of Jennifer Estep’s books! This book was an amazing ending to a great series. I’m so sad to have to leave these characters behind but this is a series I can definitely read again! This book was thrilling and action packed adventure. With touches of romance, humor, and mystery. Would definitely recommend this series!!!

As a thief, I stick to the shadows as much as possible. But when the head of the Sinclair Family picks me to compete in the Tournament of Blades, there’s no escaping the spotlight—or the danger. Even though he’s my competition, Devon Sinclair thinks I have the best shot of winning what’s supposed to be a friendly contest. But when the competitors start having mysterious “accidents”, it looks like someone will do anything to win—no matter who they hurt.As if I didn’t have enough to worry about, mobster Victor Draconi is plotting against Devon and the rest of my friends, and someone’s going around Cloudburst Falls murdering monsters. One thing’s for sure. Sometimes, humans can be more monstrous than anything else …

This book was so good! Dark Heart of Magic is one of my favorites this year! So much goes down in this book!  I felt like I wasn’t reading fast enough.  Guys things happen so fast in this book! The Tournament of Blades is going on and Lila has been chosen to be in it and someone is going around killing monsters. I can’t say how much I Loved this book!! I felt like I was there and I needed a sword as well.  Also, the mystery aspect didn’t hurt.  I love my mysteries. We also learn a lot about some of the characters that made my jaw drop, but it was all good. I’m happy with the way Devon & Lila’s romance has progressed (I ship it) and they are in an optimal spot going into the conclusion.  I loved this book and I think everyone should read it.  I’d read it again in a heartbeat!  So go buy it and read it, and if you haven’t read the first book in the series Cold Burn of Magic pick it up and marathon them both! I need the third book in my hands NOW!  I feel like there’s a hole in my heart haha. Dark Heart of Magic is definitely a must read! Ms. Estep, please keep the Black Blade series coming!

There Be Monsters Here. . .

It's not as great as you'd think, living in a tourist town that's known as "the most magical place in America." Same boring high school, just twice as many monsters under the bridges and rival Families killing each other for power.

I try to keep out of it. I've got my mom's bloodiron sword and my slightly illegal home in the basement of the municipal library. And a couple of Talents I try to keep quiet, including very light fingers and a way with a lock pick.

But then some nasty characters bring their Family feud into my friend's pawn shop, and I have to make a call--get involved, or watch a cute guy die because I didn't. I guess I made the wrong choice, because now I'm stuck putting everything on the line for Devon Sinclair. My mom was murdered because of the Families, and it looks like I'm going to end up just like her. . .

Lila was an amazing Heroine! I can’t help but admire her tenacity, her sarcasm, and her bravery! She acts tough but really, she’s a vulnerable person. I really related to Lila, I think that’s what made me love this book a little bit more. I like that Lila is realistic and practical. She knows what she can and can’t do. She’s pretty smart and she has priorities! Basically Lila is pretty bad ass and I wish I was her (Just saying). I loved all of the characters! I loved Devon, Oscar, Mo, and Felix, all these characters are complex and have a personality of their own and they also have priorities. The romance was not the main focus here and I think it was great!  But there’s a love interest,  and I feel like if it happened it I would ship it! The plot was amazing. Lila has to be Devons bodyguard after she protects him while they were at Mo’s shop and someone tries to kill him. Now Lila has to protect Devon while trying to find the people trying to kill him. I loved this book and once I got into it I couldn’t put it down. Um second book please! Anyway this book was amazing I would recommend this to my friends. Everyone should go buy it, because I know I will!

I would give this book 6 Cheshire Hearts!
