Someone you’ve loved for centuries suddenly disappears, utterly erased from history. No one but you has any memory of this beautiful person. No one but you is grieving. And no one but you can repair this devastating hole in the fabric of reality.
EMMA RUE is in the fight of her life, struggling to find her beloved soulmate, a vampire who has disappeared from everyone’s memories but her own. Her quest is complicated by an unexpected transformation in her body, as well as the intervention of her powerful nemesis…
ROWAN OF WILDWOOD, the Empress of Witches. Rowan has a madly ambitious plan to reshape the world with her shadow magic, and only Emma is standing in her way. But getting to Emma won’t be easy. Emma has loyal and vigilant friends, not the least of whom is…
STEFAN HILDEBRAND, a werewolf now dying from a shotgun wound. Desperate to protect Emma, he’ll do anything to claw his way back to life. But does that include making a devil’s bargain with an entity called the Trickster?

My Thoughts

~ Vampire Rising picks up right where Vampire soul ended, so there’s no confusion when you start reading this book.

~ All of the characters from the previous book return, we also get to meet a few new ones.

~ I loved experiencing Emma’s past lives with her. It was interesting to see how she lived before she became Emma Rue.

~ I felt bad for Emma she just found Julian only to lose him, and not only that she’s the only one who remembers that he exist. I’m glad Emma didn’t give up on Julian after his disappearance she tries everything she can to get him back.

~Emma has a lot to deal with in this book, she’s trying to find Julian and she’s becoming a transcendent again.

~ Stefan is back and he’s also going through a change after meeting a guy named the trickster. I love how protective Stefan is over Emma, he continues to help her and watch out for her.

~ Rowan is also back and she’s trying to get a weapon back from Emma, while she also works on some experiments.

~ There’s also references to some of the novellas which made me so happy.

Overall

I loved this book as much as the first one if not more! The world gets more complex and I loved meeting the new characters as they added more to the plot. Vampire Rising ended with a cliffhanger and I just want to know what happens next! I love Emma as a character and I can’t wait to continue this journey with the Heartblaze novels. I would recommend this series and the novellas too!

Isabelle, a college student who grew up in the Amazon jungle, is half-Fae. Her unique appearance draws constant scrutiny and her emotions are wildly powerful. Valentine’s Day is a stressful time for her because it usually ends in disaster. Izzy keeps souvenirs of her romantic misadventures in a heart-shaped box, all symbols of hope and heartbreak. But perhaps this year will be different because she’s working on an unusual class project with her secret love …

Luke, who grew from an annoying boy into a handsome, athletic man. As Valentine’s Day approaches, Luke delivers devastating news to Isabelle, confirming her worst fears about the upcoming holiday. Desperate, Izzy turns to …

Millicent, a dangerous love-witch living on a mysterious island with a historic past. Millicent offers Izzy a devil’s bargain in exchange for happiness. But when the deal goes awry, Isabelle experiences a Valentine’s Day unlike any other.

Short and Sweet

Isabelle is half-Fae which means everything can be controlled by her emotions. Izzy emotions can be either good or bad, good in the fact that they help her in her surroundings and bad because if something breaks Izzy’s heart she can die. Izzy decides to go to a witch to help her remove her feelings for her crush Luke, because one wrong move with Luke can end Izzy’s life.

Overall

I loved this novella more than I thought I would! I thought it was so interesting that Izzy could die just from a heartbreak and it explains why she was so guarded. I also liked getting to see some of the other Heartblaze aspects in this book. Luke was just so sweet and I loved the connection that Izzy had with him. I Loved the ending it was so cute and I was just smiling the whole time. I would love to see both of these characters in another book. I love all of Shay Roberts books, and the novellas are just helping me stay patient for the next Heartblaze book!

Beatrix, a daring college student, can’t believe she gets to spend Christmas traveling alone in Europe! But her excitement fades when a terrifying natural disaster strikes, trapping her in a remote Gothic village at the mercy of…

Augustin, a gorgeous Czech vampire with sad eyes and a tragic past. The holidays have profound significance to Augustin. He seeks to share his secrets with Beatrix, whose parents never celebrated Christmas, and soon she gets caught up in an extraordinary yuletide adventure.

Augustin becomes consumed by Beatrix and demands more than just a confidante. Much more. So Beatrix must fight him with the only weapon she has…her heart. But will that be enough to survive the night in the arms of an immortal? If not, her first Christmas may be her last.

Short and Sweet

While traveling alone in Europe during her Christmas break, Beatrix, gets lost and ends up trapped in her rental car from an avalanche. A police officer shows up and gets her out and takes Beatrix to the nearest small town in the Czech Republic. After the storm lets up Beatrix decides to explore and that’s when she ends up meeting Augustin.

Overall

A Christmas novella that does a beautiful job expressing the loneliness some people feel during the holidays. I really liked that though Beatrix and Augustin spend a short amount of time together it was something that Augustin could enjoy, because he’s lonely most of the time. This is a novella so it was pretty short but I’d love to read more about these two!

Ash, a high school senior from a broken home, performs an act of kindness that forces her into hiding. Now she’s living in the woods, training dogs to guard livestock. She soon discovers that she’s not alone in the forest. A dark, malignant beast is preying on her beloved animals. As Ash edges toward despair, a mysterious stranger appears…

Magnus, a werewolf from the nearby town of Corby, claims he is hunting the beast, but he knows more that he’s saying. His connection to Ash, and his desire for her, take her by surprise.

Their forbidden attraction captures the attention of Corby’s dangerous Gray Wolves, a council of elders determined to keep humans and werewolves apart. If necessary, they won’t hesitate to eliminate Ash, if the beast doesn’t get her first.

To survive, Ash must balance the needs of her heart with the necessities of survival. If she fails, she’ll meet a gruesome end in a forest without pity.

Ash lives alone out in the woods and she thinks she’s alone until something keeps attacking her livestock. Now Ash has to find what’s attacking her livestock and find a way to survive all while keeping her heart in check when stranger Magnus comes along. I enjoyed reading this novella! It was nice to read especially because it takes place in the same world as the Heartblaze novel. Ash was an amazing and enjoyable heroine she was strong and independent and at the same time compassionate. Magnus was a great character to we don’t see much of him but he when we do get to meet him we just want more! Magnus was the fierce alpha wolf. I really liked this novella I’m just sad it was so short, I would love to see these two in another book!

Hop onto this emotional roller coaster and brace yourself for a stunning climax!

When I first started this book I wasn’t sure if I liked it or if I’d be able to finish it. I was kind of confused especially with the four POVs but I figured it out quick. In the four POVs we meet Emma, Julian, Stefan, and Cynthia, we also get to see flashbacks of Cassandra which is Emma’s past life. This book had so many elements I liked I finished it in one sitting. Its like you’re on a ride with all of the characters. Emma was on a mission to find out about her past life and who she really is, Julian is a vampire who has been waiting for Emma, Stefan is a werewolf who has been ordered to kill Emma, and Cynthia is a ghost on a mission to get something back from Emma. Its all so crazy and fast paced and everyone is coming for Emma but the thing is she doesn’t remember everything from her past life as Cassandra, so why does she have so many enemies? I loved the risk Emma took to find out about her past life she was a brave and strong heroine. I also loved the other characters and getting to see their connection in this mystery was amazing. The ending blew me away! It ended in a cliff hanger and the first thought I had when I finished was “Wow! I need the sequel now!” I would recommend this book to my friends and anyone who likes paranormal books!
