It used to be that Belly counted the days until summer, until she was back at Cousins Beach with Conrad and Jeremiah. But not this year. Not after Susannah got sick again and Conrad stopped caring. Everything that was right and good has fallen apart, leaving Belly wishing summer would never come.

But when Jeremiah calls saying Conrad has disappeared, Belly knows what she must do to make things right again. And it can only happen back at the beach house, the three of them together, the way things used to be. If this summer really and truly is the last summer, it should end the way it started—at Cousins Beach.

Short and Sweet Review

Belly always looked forward to spending her summers at Cousins Beach with Conrad and Jeremiah, but after Susannah’s death things haven’t been the same. At Susannah’s funeral, Belly says things to Conrad which leaves them in a bad spot. A while later, Jeremiah calls Belly telling her Conrad disappeared and she knows she needs to help find Conrad and make things right.

After reading this book I truly believe that Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah are the worst characters. Belly is obsessed with Conrad and they’re truly a toxic couple. Belly throws tantrums and loves it when people come chasing after her. She hasn’t had any character development from the first book, she’s still whiny and just plain unlikeable. Belly is 17 and she’s not even a real person but she’s been getting away with her crappy behavior for so long that there’s no changing her now. Conrad is no better, they’re the same person. Conrad gets mad acts like a jerk and he tries to avoid all his problems. I would say that he’s just grieving but seeing that he was the same in book one with his bad attitude I have no sympathy for him. Jeremiah is a waste of space, he’s like a sad puppy dog pining for someone he knows is into his brother. I will give it to Belly she goes from one brother to the next and still has the time to make everything about her. I’m glad that we have Lara Jean and Peter to look at for a good romance because the trio in this book is absolute garbage. It hurts my heart because I do like Han’s books but seeing as this came out before TATBILB, I consider this series a trial run.

Overall, I don’t know why I put myself through the pain of reading this series. I will read the next book but only because I’m already two books in and there’s only one left to go.
