I am originally from Oklahoma and wrote my first book—at eight-years-old—about scary sharks. I clipped terrifying pictures from National Geographic Magazines and glued them in my notebook for illustrations.

I graduated from Sharon Mutual High School and attended Oklahoma State University before moving to Southern California. For a short time, I studied English Literature and Shakespeare at the University of California, Irvine.
