Twins Carys and Andreus were never destined to rule Eden. With their older brother next in line to inherit the throne, the future of the kingdom was secure.

But appearances—and rivals—can be deceiving. When Eden’s king and crown prince are killed by assassins, Eden desperately needs a monarch, but the line of succession is no longer clear. With a ruling council scheming to gain power, Carys and Andreus are faced with only one option—to take part in a Trial of Succession that will determine which one of them is worthy of ruling the kingdom.

As sister and brother, Carys and Andreus have always kept each other safe—from their secrets, from the court, and from the monsters lurking in the mountains beyond the kingdom’s wall. But the Trial of Succession will test the bonds of trust and family.

With their country and their hearts divided, Carys and Andreus will discover exactly what each will do to win the crown. How long before suspicion takes hold and the thirst for power leads to the ultimate betrayal?

Short and Sweet Review

Dividing Eden follows twins Carys and Andreus as they fight for the throne. Neither one of them was supposed to have this seat but after their father and older brother are killed they end up being the next in line but seeing as they’re twins only the one who completes all of the challenges and wins over the hearts of the people will get the throne.

This book had an interesting concept. Carys and Andreus are close, they tell each other secrets and they’ve kept each other safe. When they find out their father the King and their brother have been killed their whole world is turned upside down. The twins have to go through the Trial of Succession and we see their bond get tested. During the book I will say Carys seemed like the twin who used more logic and she was selfless and truly cared about the kingdom. Andreus on the other hand was selfish and he was easily manipulated, he was in a relationship with his dead brother’s fiancé and let her sway his emotions. Neither character was great but Carys really saves it, she balances out everything you could hate about Andreus. The pacing was slow and the world building was lackluster. There’s not much happening in this book we see some of the trials and how Carys and Andreus are tested along the way.

Overall, I don’t remember much about this book and I feel like that’s me subconsciously trying to forget about it. This isn’t a book I read again but I am interested in reading the second book just to see how everything ends.
