White Roaring is sharpening its fangs after the deadly night that left the city in shambles. The press are dead, the public is calling for justice, vampires are in danger, and amid the turmoil, the Ram announces a celebration.

Still reeling from the bloodshed, Arthie Casimir has no time to mourn the death of anyone, let alone her own. She has no time for love, either, even though it had saved her life. As Arthie navigates new emotions and new allies, she must reassemble her scrambled crew and scrape what little they have left to fight one last time—and she will need to face the ghosts of her past to do it.

In Ceylan.

Short and Sweet Review

A Steeping of Blood follows the aftermath of A Steeping of Tea. The city is in shambles, the public wants justice and vampires are in danger. Arthie doesn’t have time to dwell she immediately jumps into action with her crew because she knows time is of the essence, and they need to gear up for one last fight. The Ram is out there somewhere celebrating but Arthie knows she can defeat her.

In this sequel we have all of the characters we met in the previous book and also some new allies. I don’t remember much about the first book, but I did enjoy this book. In this book it definitely has that feel of this is the last book and we’re about to go to battle. We see Arthie get her team together to stop the Ram as she’s about to celebrate her new rule. We had multiple POVs to follow but at some points it could have done without because some scenes weren’t really moving the plot along. I do think Flick had a lot of character growth in this book which was nice to see. I also liked that the crew had a strong bond and it feels like they’re a family. The pacing in this book felt off, I will say it felt rushed and maybe because of that the whole plot felt underdeveloped and lack luster compared to the first book. I do think there could have been more of an exploration into the Ram and her motives for being the antagonist but she felt very underutilized. The ending was okay I wouldn’t say it was the best but it wasn’t the worst either.

Overall, this was an okay sequel but compared to the first book in this duology it does fall flat.
