America Singer searches for her happily ever after in this swoon-worthy YA dystopian romance, perfect for readers who loved Veronica Roth’s Divergent, Lauren Oliver’s Delirium, or Renée Ahdieh’s The Wrath & the Dawn.

Entering the Selection changed America Singer's life in ways she never could have imagined. Since she arrived at the palace, America has struggled with her feelings for her first love, Aspen—and her growing attraction to Prince Maxon. Now she's made her choice . . . and she's prepared to fight for the future she wants.

Short and Sweet Review

After everything that happened in The Elite, America is now sure that she wants Maxon to be hers but now she has to fight for it and show him that she’s serious.

This book was more political in that it showed more attacks from the southern rebels and we also saw the northern rebels. We also saw Maxon and America negotiate and try to align the northern rebels views with there’s. Maxon is still unsure of America because of how much she’s pushed him away in the past and America does revel that she’s been keeping Aspen around as a safety net. I liked this book because it was more than just a competition at this point and we see America freely express her ideas and even though its not well received by some it just shows what kind of princess she would be. I will say that Maxon’s temper did get the best of him and some of the things he said to America were cruel. I also liked seeing the girls finally bond in the end and let down their walls and just enjoy each others company. This was a good ending to this trilogy I liked following America and seeing her journey she grew as a character, I wish she realized sooner that she wanted Maxon but I guess her indecision was needed for the plot. Otherwise this was a good series and I’m excited to see what The Heir has in store.

Thirty-five girls came to the palace to compete in the Selection, and to win Prince Maxon’s heart. Now six girls remain, and the competition is fiercer than ever—but America Singer is still struggling to decide where her heart truly lies. Is it Prince Maxon—and life as the queen—that she wants? Or is it still Aspen, her first love?

Short and Sweet Review

The Elite picks up right where The Selection left off. There’s six girls left and the competition is fierce. America still isn’t sure if she should pick Aspen or Maxon. Maxon on the other hand is sure about America and would end the selection to make her his one. This book was entertaining but also had it’s moments where America’s indecisiveness got annoying. America would decide that Maxon was the one she wanted to choose but then she would find something wrong with him any little reason to push him away. Honestly if I was Maxon I would be annoyed because America was just playing with his feelings. When America saw that Maxon was interested in Kriss, she got jealous and realized that she needed to fight for him and stop playing with his emotions. I liked how we saw more of the rebels and found out what they wanted. We also got to see the girls learn about important things like philanthropy. I’m interested in seeing how things play out in the final book, because America isn’t a front runner and she’s walking on thin ice. I liked The Elite it was a fast read and made me realize I would never want to be in a competition like this, but it is fun to see how things play out.

ReviewedbyDani For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape a rigid caste system, live in a palace, and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon. But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her, and competing for a crown she doesn’t want. Then America meets Prince Maxon—and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

Short and Sweet Review

The Selection is the opportunity of a lifetime but America Singer doesn’t see it that way. For America it means leaving behind her secret boyfriend Aspen, but being in the Selection could help her family a lot. America’s family is a caste five which means they are artist, America is a singer, fives aren’t rich but they don’t have it as bad as a six, seven, or eight. When America gets the letter about the Selection she dreads it and doesn’t even consider going but her mother finally convinces her and so does her boyfriend Aspen. Out of all of the girls who applied America is actually chosen and she and 34 other gives who were selected are off to the palace for the competition. America thought that Prince Maxon would be stuck up and snobbish but once she actually gets to know him she realizes that she was wrong and the two of them become friends. This is my second time reading The Selection and I enjoyed it even more than the first time. I thought that the friendship between America and Maxon was beautiful, they trust each other and they have great conversations. Maxon truly cares about what’s going on outside of the palace so when America gives him insight on what life is like on the outside he takes that into consideration for things that need to change. I love how Maxon already knows that he likes America and how he gives her time to realize her feelings for him too. Although she and Aspen broke up before she left, America still thinks about him from time to time. America is a five and Aspen is a six which means life is a lot harder for him and his family and he felt like if he and America got married he wouldn’t be able to provide for her. There was a love triangle but I preferred the relationship between America and Maxon more. I liked reading about all the girls and how they interacted its kind of like the bachelor but in a book form. America was a good character and though she didn’t want to be in the Selection she still made friends and she was caring and always thought of others before herself. I’m excited to read The Elite! Read The Selection series I think its addicting and so much fun!
