Sixteen-year-old Avery West's newfound family can shut down Prada at the Champs-Elysees when they want to shop in peace, and can just as easily order a bombing when they want to start a war. They are part of a powerful and dangerous secret society called the Circle of Twelve, and Avery is their missing heir. If they discover who she is, some of them will want to use her as a pawn. Some will want her dead.
To thwart their plans, Avery must follow a trail of clues from the monuments of Paris to the back alleys of Istanbul and through a web of ancient legends and lies. And unless she can stay one step ahead of beautiful, volatile Stellan, who knows she’s more than she seems, and can decide whether to trust mysterious, magnetic Jack, she may be doomed after all.

Avery West is sixteen and lives on a constant moving schedule. Every few months her and her mom pack up the house and hit the road to a new location. Avery’s mom’s job makes them move a lot and Avery has come to except that she will never be able to “settle down” and make friends or memories in the places she stays. They move so often they’ve stopped unpacking everything.

Jack is the new kid. Avery thinks he is mysterious and cute, like most of the girls at her school, but knows from past experience that she can’t have feelings for anyone because eventually she’ll be on the move again. Stellan a complete stranger shows up one day and “fights” over Avery. With her in the middle of two boys she is unbelievably confused. She learns of a family she has never known and a secret society that seems only conspiracy theorists would believe. A day after her meet and greet with stranger Stellan, Avery is off on a wild chase with a single piece of paper and hopefully the right destination to continue on a treasure hunt she finds impossible.

This book was fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat. It involved a secret world order that was trying to uncover Alexander the Great and the secrets he took to his tomb. And there’s an ancient society trying to keep Alexander’s secrets. Clues with a kind of scavenger hunt. Bad guys with guns and knives. I definitely enjoyed this book and can’t wait until the sequel is released.

Quinn is looking forward to her senior year at Poe University. She has big plans to hang out with her best friend, flirt with a certain boy genius, party at her favorite dive bar and figure out what she's going to do after graduation with her not-so-useful art major. But that's before she meets Luke, a hot townie who's moved back home to help take care of his dying sister. And it's before a weird epidemic sweeps across campus, mysteriously turning people's eyes purple.
Is it an odd side effect from a new party drug?
Is it a rogue virus developed in a campus lab?
Is it the mark of the devil?
Soon the town starts blaming the university and the student religious group becomes frighteningly aggressive in their on-campus accusations. Quinn and Luke are caught in the middle—until a tragic accident forces Luke to reveal the one part of himself he's kept carefully hidden. That he's so much more than the happy-go-lucky boy next door Quinn had believed him to be isn't a surprise…but this truth might be too dangerous for her to handle.

Something strange is happening in and around Poe College, the town and students are quarantined, no one in and no one out. Why? Because someone or something is infecting people with violet eyes! Purple Eye Disease is spreading and doctors think it is carried through bodily fluids. There are other side effects, too, that are not exactly bad, just unexplainable.

Caught in the middle of this is college student, Quinn, a carefree college senior, looking to have fun with her friends. When events in town get nasty, as the fear of the purple eye disease grows, the college is blamed and anyone associated with or having purple eyes becomes a target for violence and even death. Through it all, Quinn becomes involved, she always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, trying to help, but causing more trouble and coming under the scrutiny of the law. Quinn also meets a love interest, Luke. But when Quinn finds out he has secrets of his own she wonders if she can still trust him.

Quinn’s character took some time for me to warm up to, but when the story started getting deeper, so did Quinn’s character. Although there was danger from the unknown and the cult, Quinn was determined to find out the cause of the illness. Half the campus is in quarantine and not allowed to leave but Quinn is constantly breaking the rules and finding more and more clues. She meets Luke right before the epidemic and is constantly ignoring his wishes. She is determined to help her friends and others.

Luke is a loveable character. He is handsome, sweet and caring. Luke is keeping a secret, which when it came out I am not sure why, but it does add to Quinn’s confusion. Neither Luke nor Quinn were looking for a relationship but the epidemic brings them together. Rashid another possible love interest is a scientist. I didn’t really see the connection. Luke was true to his character throughout the story. His interest and concern for Quinn’s safety and those who took ill never wavered.

When we finally dive into the mystery illness, the author gives readers danger and suspense. There are twist and turns that I did not see coming. I would have liked to had more of Quinn and Luke too, but the story is fast-paced. Overall I think Heartsick was a good book.

It's been 21 days since the hundred landed on Earth. They're the only humans to set foot on the planet in centuries...or so they thought. Facing an unknown enemy, Wells attempts to keep the group together. Clarke strikes out for Mount Weather, in search of other colonists, while Bellamy is determined to rescue his sister, no matter the cost. And back on the ship, Glass faces an unthinkable choice between the love of her life and life itself. In this pulse-pounding sequel to The 100, secrets are revealed, beliefs are challenged, and relationships are tested. And the hundred will struggle to survive the only way they can -- together.

The book picks up where The 100 left off, the group of people sent down to Earth are now aware of the fact they are not alone. They have always believed that no one survived the Cataclysm, that Earth was not inhabitable because of radiation. They are now aware that there are people living on Earth, Earthborns who managed to survive in a large underground bunker and have now come to the surface.

This one keeps up the fast-moving pace that we had in book one. It has all the twists and turns, the four different points of view and the flashbacks into their past that reveal more about them and the story. It also has the romance and the drama that comes along with it. There is just so much romance and melodrama surrounding it all. We’ve got characters declaring their love for one another, even though they have quite literally only known each other for three weeks.

We still follow four characters in this: Clarke, Bellamy, Wells and Glass. Glass was my favorite out of the four in The 100 and she’s still my favorite in this book. I liked the book and I’d recommend it. I still haven’t watched the show yet but I think I’ll wait until I read the third book! (:

Ever since a devastating nuclear war, humanity has lived on spaceships far above Earth's radioactive surface. Now, one hundred juvenile delinquents -- considered expendable by society -- are being sent on a dangerous mission: to recolonize the planet. It could be their second chance at life...or it could be a suicide mission. CLARKE was arrested for treason, though she's haunted by the memory of what she really did. WELLS, the chancellor's son, came to Earth for the girl he loves -- but will she ever forgive him? Reckless BELLAMY fought his way onto the transport pod to protect his sister, the other half of the only pair of siblings in the universe. And GLASS managed to escape back onto the ship, only to find that life there is just as dangerous as she feared it would be on Earth. Confronted with a savage land and haunted by secrets from their pasts, the hundred must fight to survive. They were never meant to be heroes, but they may be mankind's last hope.

100 teenagers are to be sent to earth after humans evacuated it 300 years prior because of a nuclear war. After a brief introduction, we embark on this unnerving trip to a now foreign planet. While I liked the quick drop into the big picture, I felt like I missed the chance to get to know the characters beforehand. We do get flashbacks throughout the book but there’s only a minor light shed on the character’s lives when they were on the ship.

The 100 left me with endless questions from the events that led to life on this ship, to how life has been sustained for three centuries, to how they have evolved and adapted. When they get to earth, aside from it being regrettably unexciting for a while, I was unconvinced at how they could adapt so easily – they don’t seem to be affected by the sun or foreign bacteria like the kind in water from a river.

The only problem I had with this book was keeping up with the 4 POVs. In the end I have to admit that it kept my interest from start to finish. The book’s short chapters makes it a quick read, it also has some frightening turn of events on top of an ending that stirs up the pot.

The ghost pulls up an article about a boy named Jonathan Miller, Amy is interested and decides to help Jonathan find his body.  However, when Amy and Jonathan can’t find his body they end up on an adventure to find one that he can use. I fell in love with Amy and Jonathan especially how their connection grew during their journey of trying to find Jonathan a body. I also liked Amy’s friends even though they didn’t believe Amy at first they stuck by her side and helped her. The ending was AMAZING! Mallory's life is falling apart. Her boyfriend was stabbed. He bled to death in her kitchen. Mallory was the one who stabbed him. But she can't remember what happened that night. She only remembers the fear . . . When Mallory's parents send her away to a boarding school, she thinks she can escape the gossip and the threats. But someone, or something, has followed her. There's the hand that touches her shoulder when she's drifting off to sleep. A voice whispering her name. And everyone knows what happened. So when a pupil is found dead, Mallory's name is on their lips. Her past can be forgotten but it's never gone. Can Mallory live with that?

After the incident Mallory’s parents decide to send her to Monroe a prep school to get away from everything back home. However, she can’t help but feel that her ex-boyfriend’s ghost has followed her. She can hear his heartbeat. She has the impression of a hand indented on her shoulder from where she’s being grabbed by his ghost. Not long after Mallory arrives, another pupil is found dead in her room. Mallory claims she was sleeping and can’t remember anything. I really liked Mallory as a character and Reid, her new love interest, is a great, loyal guy. The thing I loved most about the book is the face that Mallory doesn’t really remember the details of the night she killed Brian but throughout the book she has flashbacks of that night. I’m pretty sure there won’t be a sequel to this book but if there was I would buy it. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes Romance, Thriller, and Mystery.

Falcon Lake will have its vengeance.

When everyone thought Delaney was going to die, Decker made a bargain. Anyone but her. Everyone but her.

He never realized someone might actually be listening.

Carson pulled Delaney out of the frozen water of Falcon Lake, and he died on the side of the road with his mouth pressed to hers. Troy tried to recreate Delaney’s accident, and the lake took him instead. All the talk about a curse doesn’t shake Decker, until yet another unthinkable tragedy strikes and there’s just too much coincidence and death for Decker to take . . . and too much anger.

Because Delaney knew it was coming, and she never said a word. Falcon Lake still has a hold on them both, and Decker can’t forgive Delaney until he knows why.

Vengeance by Megan Miranda is the sequel to Fracture, and this time the book is in Decker’s point of view. After the events from the last book everyone thinks Falcon Lake is haunted and is waiting to get its revenge. Decker loses someone close to him and Delaney knew it would happen, so Decker takes his anger out on Delaney, until mysterious things start to happen to them and their friends. Of course after these things start to happen everyone thinks the curse of Falcon Lake is coming to get them, and it’s especially trying to get Delaney.

In this book Decker has a lot of anger towards Delaney for keeping a secret from him. He acts harshly towards her, but you can tell deep down he really cares about her. The rest of the characters in the book set the tone of the book because they honestly feel like the curse is coming for them and now they have this fear towards Falcon Lake. Vengeance for me was a page turner because I couldn’t wait to read what was going to happen next. Vengeance had an unexpected but great ending. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes paranormal, thrillers, and mysteries. If Megan Miranda wrote another book I would buy it. (;

I had the honor of receiving an ARC of Ms. Jordan’s upcoming novel UNINVITED at Authors After Dark. I have been so busy I didn’t have the chance to read it until Christmas Eve. I finished it within 24 hours because WOW it is so fantastic! Sophie Jordan has an award winning book on her hands. UNINVITED hits shelves in January and you do not want to miss out! UNINVITED’S tagline is “They Say She’s A Killer, One Day She Will Be.” This is one great tagline. It creates the perfect amount of intrigue. While reading UNINVITED you will ask yourself a bunch of questions about how we define ourselves and how far we will go to survive?! UNINVITED is beautifully written by Ms. Jordan’s brilliant pen. UNINVITED is by far the best young adult novel I have read this year. It gave me exciting chills the likes of which I haven’t had since I read, The Hunger Games.

UNINVITED gives the reader a feast filled with heady topics, chilling suspense and a one-of-a-kind romance. I fully expect the characters, Davina “Davy” Hamilton and Sean O’Rourke to become the next “YA It Couple!” One of the many things that make this a wonderful novel is the fact that there is no angst-ridden love triangle like most YA novels. Davy Hamilton is one smart and savvy teenager. Unfortunately, her world gets turned upside down in an instant and she is forced to learn a new way of living. Sean O’Rourke is a no-nonsense type of guy who has worked for everything he has. Sparks fly when these two are on the page together. I absolutely love them! I’m actually thinking about reading it again because it went by too fast! UNINVITED took my breath away with its invigorating five-star romance! Sophie Jordan rocked my world with UNINVITED! I cannot wait to find out what happens next!!

Xoxo,
